Intellectual Property/Commercial Property/Regulatory Lawyers (UK Qualified)

About LawBite/LawBriefs
LawBite is the UK’s first digital legal offering combining a cutting-edge technology Platform with a regulated ‘virtual’ online law firm (“LawBriefs”) to lead a traditional industry into the digital age.  LawBite is dedicated to democratising the law for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs), by leveraging its technology to provide fast, affordable, understandable business legal advice. The business is now well established with a strong reputation for speed and quality of its advice, both with its thousands of clients and expert, specialist lawyers.
LawBite’s online platform, mobile app and software tools allow lawyers to communicate easily and quickly with clients when providing legal advice and collaborate on essential documents and templates. It is the first client/lawyer communication tool of its kind within the UK legal industry. Wrapped around the Platform is our SRA regulated law firm, LawBriefs Limited, with a full-service range of highly experienced lawyers.
LawBite has been trading for over four years and is growing rapidly.

The Opportunity
We're seeking a dynamic, experienced UK qualified Corporate and/or Commercial Lawyer to join our expanding legal team to work flexibly and remotely as a consultant.
You will be required to advise us on a weekly basis as to your availability for new work and referrals and you will be expected to be available during those times for initial (15 minute) client consultations. You will be referred good-quality leads and following a successful initial call, you would provide the client with an upfront, fixed fee quote based on the number of hours you expect the work to take or from our range of fixed price products. This could be for more detailed advice, drafting work or contract checking.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification commercial experience (ideally 10 years)
  • Valid practising certificate
  • Broad legal expertise within the business sector
  • Belief in putting the needs of the small business first
  • Ability to understand and diagnose the client's legal needs quickly
  • Ability to present legal options and quality advice in an uncomplicated way
  • Ability to work remotely and manage case loads independently
  • Good IT skills

We particularly require expertise in the following legal areas:

  • Intellectual Property (eg copyright, trademarks, design rights, patents)
  • Commercial Property (eg commercial licences, leases, commercial property purchases or sales)
  • Regulatory matters (could be for specific sectors such as food and beverage, construction, health care, financial services)

How we work
We operate by creating client enquiries through our online marketing, and our partnership network of affiliated websites which now reaches 2 million SME’s. Every enquiry is first processed by our client care team and then passed to an appropriate lawyer on our team for the free initial phone call.
You will be provided with full platform training prior to commencing any formal work, and a member of our team will always be on hand to guide you through the process and help you interact with our clients. As a regulated law firm (LawBriefs Ltd) through the SRA we can also provide insurance for any lawyers working via our platform, however, you will be responsible for maintaining your own practising certificate.
For any work converted you will receive £80 an hour (with minor variations up and down depending on whether or not the client has a Pricing Plan with us).
We take responsibility for bringing in leads and filtering clients to ensure they are suitable to our lawyers' expertise. Further still, as our system is set up to bill and collect fees from clients (as well as automatically generating monthly lawyer invoices) you do not have to undertake any of the usual administrative duties.
We have regular lawyer meet-up days and catch-ups via video conference for the team. There is also a lively lawyer intranet system where you can support and interact with one another on cases.

We want to hear from you!
If this sounds like a good fit for you, please submit your CV and a brief statement about why you think you would be suited to working for LawBite to richard@lawbite.co.uk
